We were pleased to welcome McCall Dempsey to Baylor on Tuesday, March 14 as part of Body Positivity Week. McCall is the founder of Southern Smash, a non-profit aimed at raising eating disorder awareness and promoting positive body image through its signature scale smashing event. McCall met with Upper School parents for an informal coffee and later presented to juniors and seniors.

Since alcohol (and marijuana to some extent) is such a pervasive part of our culture, it is important we have conversations about the reasons behind the drinking age, especially as they prepare to head off to college campuses.
Author and comic storyteller Cindy Pierce spoke to Upper School students in chapel on Oct. 24 about the need for students to following their moral compass, having social courage, and finding their “healthy crew” (those people, adults and peers, who support them, lift them up and allow them to feel good about themselves). It was a lot to pack into one chapel talk!
Parents, as we strive to encourage our students to be part of a drug-free culture, the Peer Support Network invites them to take part in the following events on campus during the week of Oct, 24-28:
This annual event is held at the beginning of the year for our 9th grade girls. It is led by seniors as part of their senior project. It is an opportunity for the 9th grade girls to get to know each other better, to get to know a few older girls and to discuss what it is like growing up in our society as a female. It is a night of bonding, laughter and fun!
