Baylor Works leverages and engages the Baylor network to find internships and mentorships in various industries for graduating seniors and college-age alumni.  The goal of BAYLOR Works is for young alumni to build their resume, develop their professional experience and select the right career path. 

We are currently seeking businesses for the Baylor Works intern placements for the summer of 2017. All interns are Baylor graduates currently attending college or entering college as freshmen in the fall of 2017. We have received many positive testimonials on how the program has proven to be useful for employers while giving young alumni valuable work experience.

ACA Compliance


Category: Finance
Compensation: Paid $10 per hour
Duration: Six to eight weeks during Summer 2016

ACA Performance Services, LLC, a division of ACA Compliance Group, offers Global Investment Performance Standards (“GIPS”) verification and consulting services to investment managers around the globe. Our more than 30 professionals have over 200 years of combined experience and form the largest team of GIPS professionals globally that is solely dedicated to GIPS verification and related services. To date, we have worked with over 300 asset managers, including 31% of the Top 100 Institutional Asset Managers, as ranked by Pensions and Investments Magazine. ACA Performance interns will gain valuable exposure to the operations, client service, and analytical functions of a boutique consulting firm.

The internship is best suited for highly motivated students with at least two years of college, a keen interest in the business of investment management, strong analytical skills. A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is preferred.

Accent Construction




Category: Construction / Engineering
Compensation: Paid, amount TBD

Duration: Summer break, 4 days/week, 8AM - 4PM

Internship will consist of shadowing and assisting various construction managers and project engineers within Accent Construction Services on various construction projects. Daily tasks will include document control, scheduling, estimating, budgeting, etc. This internship is best suited for a college-aged student with a concentration in Engineering.

Baylor School Admissions



Paid- $15 per hour
Six weeks in Summer 2016; Tuesday through Thursdays from 8am to 12 noon


This position offers a part-time opportunity for a student interested in learning about school admission work and understanding and gathering the data that supports it. The intern will work with the data manager on various record related projects and tasks and assist the admission staff with campus tours as well as other tasks related to admission process.

This is internship is best suited for a student who enjoys meeting new people, has strong organization skills and experience with Microsoft, and who has basic excel skills. Database skills are a plus.

Chattanooga Choo Choo

Four weeks in Summer 2016; 9am-5pm

The Event Programming Internship offers an opportunity to gain exposure to the hospitality industry and to learn about the roles marketing, event planning and public relations play in this industry. 

In this position, the intern will:

·         help transform our formal garden into a community park and event space

·          research potential events for the gardens

·         be involved in branding and design of the gardens

·         marketing the events

·         assisting with the production of already scheduled events

·         help to develop budgets for future events

Children's Hospital at Erlanger

Six weeks

Child Life Specialists help children cope with the stress and anxiety associated with being in the hospital. As a volunteer with the Child Life department you undertake this role as well. Volunteers are an imperative part of the services we provide. Through your support we are able to broaden our Child Life services by providing more experiences that will lessen the stress and promote positive growth and development during hospitalization.

Summary of Responsibility

·         Work directly with Child Life staff to review the patient census and communicate developmentally appropriate needs.

·         Help with recreational activities and play opportunities in group and one-on-one situations by providing a comfortable, accepting and non-threatening environment under the direction of a Child Life Specialist.

·         Interact with patients and their siblings in the playroom and at bedside.

·         In charge of daily cleaning of toys, supplies and other play materials, and maintains an ongoing inventory of supplies, in order to maintain safe, clean and well-organized playrooms.

·         Provides volunteer coverage for special events, field trips and other activities sponsored/assisted by the Child Life department.

Lawson Winchester Wealth Management

Wealth Management/Portfolio Construction
Paid- $10 per hour plus parking
4-8 weeks in Summer 2016; Mon- Thursday 9am-5pm ( 32 hours/week)

Lawson Winchester Wealth Management ( “ LWWM”) is seeking an intern who is interested in learning about investing, portfolio construction, and portfolio management, as well as the risk management associated with investment models. The intern will attend weekly Investment Committee breakfast meetings and will have direct interaction with the firm’s managing directors and analysts. Several hours each week will be spent learning both technical and fundamental equity analysis.  Additionally, the intern will be assigned a project for which he or she will assume complete responsibility ( with guidance from staff). When appropriate, the intern may be included in client meetings and therefore a minimum of business casual dress is required.

Job Duties:

  • Meet With Clients  - set up appointments with clients to conduct extensive fact-finding of their current financial situation.

Design, creative, sales - Oh My!

River City Company

River City Company is the economic development engine for Downtown Chattanooga. Through its work to cultivate and advocate for a vibrant and healthy downtown, River City Company stimulates the community's economic, social and cultural growth.


For over 28 years, River City Company, a private non-profit, has worked in partnership with local government, the private sector, and the philanthropic sector to support Downtown Chattanooga. Because a vigorous downtown is a prerequisite for a healthier city, we’re working to keep downtown Chattanooga working.


This internship is best suited for highly motivated students with a keen interest in urban planning, economic development, and a love for downtown Chattanooga. Project planning, independent research, preparation of reports and various local exploration trips will certainly be included in the position.

Signal Energy is a leading full service design/build contractor providing Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services for utility-scale infrastructure and renewable energy projects across North America.

This internship is ideal for college students with construction or energy industry aspirations. Degree path to construction management, engineering, building science or similar areas is a plus.

Applicants must be college student. Preferably and Engineering major (mechanical, electrical or civil) or a Construction Management, Building Science, or Building Technology major.

This intern will work as part of a project team, learning the responsibilities of a project engineer. The intern will:

·         Act as an advocate for Signal Energy, LLC by promoting all company policy and procedures and promoting a positive attitude towards the goals of each project. Must represent Signal Energy professionally with clients, subcontractors, and others at all times.

·         Review and coordinate subcontract documents, scopes of work, and schedules.

·         Process RFI’s and submittals.

·         Correspond with owners and design engineers.

·         Review and log inspection reports.

·         Work with the Estimating department during the pre-bid and buyout stage of each project to ensure that the needs of the field staff are being addressed.

·         Constantly solve problems and resolve issues through face to face and personal communication.

·         Actively communicate with and support site management team.




Interior Design / Marketing/Retail
Paid- $8 per hour
June -August, 2-3 days a week; flexible hours

This internship will focus on Interior Design and Marketing Design at Sophie’s Shoppe, a home, gift and design boutique in the heart of North Chattanooga.

Duties will vary day to day but could include assisting with interior installations, shopping, doing errands, and helping at the retail shop as well as a variety of other marketing and/or design duties.

The ideal candidate will be hard working, have an interest in design/decorating, eager to learn and have a positive attitude.

Summer 2016

The Mechanical Draftsman will utilize AutoCad and SolidWorks drafting software to design and develop infrastructure layouts and diagrams from initial concept to final design. He or she will develop and review mechanical designs with engineering colleagues and provide equipment drawings of schematics for the purpose of manufacturing. The intern will:

·         Work with the Engineering Department to implement the design and ensure proper operation of final assembly.

·         Communicate and resolve design issues with the engineers, construction coordinators, technicians and third party vendors.

·         Work with the project team to develop project scope and costing, obtaining input from third parties such as component vendors, utilities, construction contractors, and permitting authorities.

·         Maintain current inventory of drawings and specifications of individual components and assembly drawings.

·         Collaborate with engineers, customers, and contractors to support installation, operation and maintenance of systems.

The intern must have 0-2 years of experience in a drafting position; experience using AutoCad and SolidWorks, and the ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings.

The internship program at WRCB-TV and is designed to allow a student to apply their classroom knowledge to a working newsroom. Internships rotate in key areas of a newsroom: Broadcast Producing, Web Producing, Reporting, Photographer/Editor, and Assignment Desk. Students will learn about the television industry from the business and technical sides in all areas.

This internship is only available to juniors and seniors in college. Intern will be compensated with an hourly wage.
