Boarding Admission

Procedure

For a candidate to be considered for admission to Baylor, the following are required:

  • Completed application with a $75 ($150 International) application fee
  • Personal conversation and campus visit
  • Testing
  • Recent transcript including grades from current school year
  • Writing sample
  • Teacher recommendations

Please follow the directions below concerning the application. Give the pieces of the application to the people indicated. You may request that the transcript and recommendations be returned to you in a sealed envelope to forward to us, or you may have the information mailed directly to the Admission Office. Please note, in order to be considered for the appropriate admissions process, you must have the entire application completed by the designated date for this process. These dates are stated in the process section of the directions. If you have questions concerning the application dates, feel free to call the Admission Office.

Main Application for Admission
Please fill out this part of the application and send it in to the Admission Office as soon as possible. We ask that we receive the main application before you come for the campus visit and conversation.

Teacher Recommendations
Please give these forms to current teachers, providing them with our envelope addressed to the Admission Office. We ask that you give the teachers adequate time to get to know the candidate before requesting a recommendation from them. You and your parents should sign the Waiver of Access before submitting these forms to your teachers. Please have the recommendations forwarded to us as they become available.

School Report and Transcript
Please give the school report form to your Principal, School Head, or Guidance Counselor, providing him or her with our envelope addressed to the Admission Office. The transcript should include all grades for the two years prior to your application, as well as from the first semester of the current school year. Please mail the transcript and school report to the Admission Office after the first semester of the current school year. You may request that the school mail this information directly to the Admission Office. Students already in high school should provide a transcript with all courses and grades taken for high school credit.

Personal Confidential Recommendation
Please give this envelope to a person of your choice, providing him or her with our envelope addressed to the Admission Office. It can be another teacher or an adult who knows you outside of the classroom. We ask that this recommendation come from a person who has frequent contact with you. Please have the recommendation forwarded to us as it becomes available.

Standardized Testing
We accept as testing either the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) or the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). In some cases for older applicants we can accept the PSAT. Please consult the websites for SSAT and ISEE for test dates and registration. The SSAT is the most common test for admission boarding schools. It given throughout the year at test sites all over the world. Baylor offers the ISEE on campus four times a year which we can accept in absence of a SSAT. If you are unable to reach a test center on a appointed test date, or if you have trouble registering online, please contact us in the admission office. Please remember that to avoid additional charges, you must register for a test approximately three weeks before the test date.

Campus Visit/Interview
A personal interview is required. Simply call the Admission Office at 1-800-222-9567 to schedule your family's visit. Appointments are made Monday-Friday.
