David M. Abshire Civic Leadership Trip
The David M. Abshire Civic Leadership trip is an intensive eight-day experiential course of study in Washington D.C. with an emphasis on national leadership, ethics, honor, and service.
Any rising senior is able to apply, but only twelve students are selected for the honor. These students travel to the nation's capital in June where they meet a variety of leaders and participate in a myriad of activities while also enjoying tours of embassies, the National Cathedral, the White House and Capitol Building. The students also have the opportunity to participate in a day of career shadowing with alums in the Washington D.C. area. The program was created in partnership with the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Dr. Abshire ’44, who serves as president and CEO of that organization.
NOTE: The David M. Abshire Leadership Fellows trip to Washington D.C. takes place in early June for rising seniors who are accepted to the program. Completed applications are due on February 10. Applications are available in Mr. Shaw's office on the second floor of Hunter Hall, or by clicking here:
