Our Sixth Grade

The sixth grade program has two main purposes. The first is to bring together a diverse and talented group of individuals and their families to create a community. The second is to foster in our sixth graders the motivation and tools necessary to be successful students and citizens of Baylor School through a challenging curriculum.

The sixth grade class typically has between 104 – 108 students from between 25 – 30 area schools. Therefore, our program is purposefully crafted to bring together this group of individuals, transitioning them into the community where they will spend the next seven years. Through class trips, adviser groups, social opportunities, athletic teams and enrichment activities, students create important social bonds with their classmates. The program also provides a wealth of opportunities for parents and families to come together. Tailgates, book clubs, art shows, and musical concerts serve as venues to strengthen the connections among Baylor parents and families.

The sixth grade program is also designed to offer a wide variety of academic, athletic and enrichment offerings for our students, ensuring that each child succeeds and thrives in personal areas of strength. Small class size ensures that each student is known, allowing teachers to challenge children to reinforce areas that need improvement, while encouraging children to pursue their strengths. A rigorous and age appropriate curriculum challenges students while engaging them in interesting, worthwhile activities.
