The Leadership Baylor Program was launched in 2005 and Bill Curry was hired the following year as the program’s Executive Director. In his role, Curry is responsible for working with faculty, staff, and students in developing and enhancing a program that has become a major part of the Baylor learning experience. The goal of the Leadership Baylor program is to reach out to all of our students and help them discover and develop their unique leadership skills.
"It's important to understand that Leadership Baylor is far more than a simple course. Seldom do we change behavior by 'taking a course.' Leadership Baylor is unique because we are actually training our students to understand the essence of leadership through vivid, repetitive, deeply personal experiences," said Curry.
Some of the components of the Leadership Baylor program area as follows.
Leadership Classes
Under the broad umbrella of Leadership Baylor, every student in grades 9-12 is required to attend classes each week in Leadership, Wellness, College Counseling, or Academic Preparation.
Senior Capstone Projects
Seniors are required to demonstrate their leadership skills by completing a comprehensive “capstone” project.
Experiential Day
Students in grades 10-12 attend a retreat off campus and focus on completing challenging team-building exercises with their classmates.
