Senior Capstone Projects

In addition to attending regular Leadership Baylor classes, seniors are required to demonstrate their leadership skills by completing a “capstone” project and an evaluation of their participation in the Leadership Baylor Program is reflected on their final transcript. To complete the requirements of the capstone project, seniors are divided into small groups and asked to address issues, programs, or improvements that will make a positive impact on campus. Each member of the group must take an active leadership role in the project. Examples of recent capstone projects include:

  • Career Day for seniors
  • Student-led Blood Drive
  • Establishing a baby-sitting/ pet-sitting referral service for Baylor faculty and staff
  • Repairing the trail between Alumni Chapel and Weeks
  • Initiating an annual student/teacher evaluation
  • Re-instituting the tradition of a pep rally and bonfire
  • Beginning a plastics recycling effort
  • Establishing a mentoring program with seniors and Middle School students
  • Reviewing the allocation of parking spaces
  • Big Brother/Big Sister pairing for transfer students in the upper school

Senior Capstone Projects

Comments from Our Seniors
“I learned that the (Capstone) project can work more smoothly if there is more than one leader. I also learned that leaders do not have to do everything themselves, but can get
help from other group members.”

“This project had a great impact on me. One of my passions is helping and informing others. This project allowed me to do both.”

“I feel that our project embodied the meaning of ‘senior leadership.’ As a senior, my goal should be to make Baylor an inclusive community. Our project helped do that.”

“I feel more responsible (after completing the Capstone Project) because I thought it was something I would not be able to do. Thanks to this project, I learned that I will never know what I am capable of until I try it.”

“While doing this project I learned that it takes a lot of time and effort to be a good leader, but there are also little things a person can do to become a leader.”

“The project had a profound and insightful impact on me….it increased my sense of self-worth to staggering new heights. It has taught me that I am a leader.”

“I think the project enabled me to realize I can make a difference in our school. Also, through group work, much can be accomplished.”
