Leadership Colloquium Classes

All students in grades 6-8 are exposed to a variety of activities that build upon leadership development. Upon entering the ninth grade and continuing right up to their graduation, all students are required to attend Leadership Baylor Colloquium classes every Thursday. Our curriculum emphasizes the importance of principled leadership based on core values. In working with students, we focus on leadership as a collaborative process rather than a singular position.

The topics covered in these classes include:

  • What Makes A Great Leader?
  • Communication is More than Talking
  • Ethics Up Close and Personal
  • Personal Leadership and Goal Setting
  • Leadership from a Historical Perspective
  • Conflict Management
  • Ethical Decision-Making from a Group Perspective
  • Planning, Organizing and Executing a Meeting
  • Writing a Personal Leadership Plan
  • Leading from Within
  • It Takes More than One to Make a Team

We use also use Colloquium to cover:

  • PSAT Planning and Prep
  • Wellness
  • ACT Planning and Prep
  • College Counseling (in addition to regular appointments and College Counseling events)

Leadership Baylor Classes

Comments from Our Students
“I have learned that communication is key to effective leadership.”

Leadership Baylor has impacted me in many ways. The greatest impact is through showing me that anyone – not just the class president – can make a difference if they have the will to do so.”

“I have learned to be more open to accepting challenges because they are often not as difficult to get the desired result as one would imagine. Maybe now I will take more risks to make the changes in the world that I want to see take place.”
