The Learning Center

The Learning Center embodies the best of learning philosophies as a place where students can seek academic support in any subject area at anytime. In The Learning Center a student can work one-on-one with a trained tutor on:

  • Math, English, History, Foreign Language, Science, Arts
  • Organizational skills
  • Effective study habits

Located on the second floor of the Hedges Library, The Learning Center is open to students during any free time or Study Hall throughout the day.

We are currently open during Extra Help, A, B, C, D, E, F, and Activities/SH.

The Learning Center is also available to the boarding community evenings (8:00-10:00) on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

If you feel that you are in need of a regular one-on-one tutor session in any subject, please contact Jennifer Averbeck (javerbeck@baylorschool.org) to schedule a session.

Our Tutors Speak

"During my first two years of high school I attended a public school where I never wrote a paper.... The writing center has helped me learn the process of developing a paper and, therefore, has made me feel more prepared for college. My tutor ... has been extremely helpful as a tutor, but she has also made my emotional transition into Baylor so much easier.... She has helped me more over the past year than she probably realizes.... Every time I come out of the writing center, I feel like I improve both my papers and my writing techniques."
