Academic Support
One of the strengths of Baylor School is a wealth of programs, services, systems, and, most importantly, people whoare focused on every student's success. These include an adviser program, the Peer Support Network, a Study Skills Department and its Peer Tutoring Program, the Baylor Writing Center, professional school counselors, a school psychologist, and learning specialists.
There are still more resources – the library, college counseling, the chaplaincy, the Leadership Baylor program, and academic prefects serving the boarding program – that bolster student success.
Additionally, the Upper School, Middle School, and Sixth Grade programs address students' needs in age-appropriate ways, and one-on-one extra help sessions with faculty are built into the schedule at each grade level. Shaw Wilson, the dean of Baylor's 11th and 12th grade, sums it up this way: "A school the size of Baylor is able to offer a huge variety of programs. In some schools, this support isn't necessary simply because students don't have many options in the first place. Baylor students do."
