What is it?
In a college preparatory school such as Baylor, the
curriculum can be rigorous at times even for the best
and brightest students. It is especially important
for students in grades 6-8 to establish habits and
skills that will enable them to succeed in the upper
school. As the learning specialist for grades 6-8,
Christy Tomisek provides assistance that is tailored
to individual learning syles. Sometimes it is in the
form of grasping new content in a particular subject,
or it may be help related to testing skills,
organizational skills, and developing more efficient
study skills. In addition to working with students
and parents, she is also a valuable resource for
faculty who are developing strategies to help students
reach their individual academic potential. Working
together, they try to meet that potential and move
the student to the next appropriate learning level.
