What Parents Say About Baylor

We asked current Baylor parents to respond to the following question: “How does Baylor compare to the school you attended?”

My high school had a pretty diverse population. While I received a good education, Baylor surpasses it in many ways. Baylor is much smaller and particularly with the “school within a school” that is the boarding community, seems much more intimate. The range of classes, sports and extracurricular activities is much, much greater at Baylor. The involvement of the faculty and parents in student life at Baylor is also far greater than in my experience. I recall appointments with my guidance counselor only twice while in high school, there was no other formal advisor system, and I only recall seeing parents at the school if there was a sporting event or someone had gotten into some serious trouble. I did have some terrific teachers, who had a great influence on me, but Baylor teachers are much more likely to get to know students individually. Baylor having the younger students in sixth through eighth grades sharing the campus puts a special burden on the high school students to be good role models.
