Quick Overview

Enrollment

Baylor is a coeducational day and boarding school for grades 6-12. We welcome and enroll students of all faiths, races, and backgrounds, and offer over $2 million in need-based financial aid each year. We have approximately 1080 students.

Coeducation and Cultural Diversity

Since we also believe that much growth occurs through the interaction of peers, we strive to create an interesting vital mix in our student population. We actively seek students who bring different geographic, economic, social, ethnic, and racial backgrounds to our community. We also believe students this age benefit from a coeducational learning environment. At Baylor - as in the real world - both girls and boys occupy leadership positions within the school and participate fully in the life of the school. All of Baylor's students benefit from the global and cultural perspectives that our boarding students bring. In fact, our 200 boarders hail from places as close as Alabama and as far away as Korea.

100% College Placement

Baylor sends 100 percent of the student body to colleges and universities nationwide, including Ivy League schools and other prestigious institutions of higher learning. Eight out of ten Baylor students get into the first university of their choice.

Advanced Placement Courses

All of our classes are college preparatory. In addition to core courses, advanced courses, and electives, Baylor offers 22 Advanced Placement courses. Baylor students taking Advanced Placement (AP) are often eligible to receive college credit or waive required college courses.

Class Size and Faculty

Baylor's average class size is 15 students. Our talented faculty are experienced educators - more than one third have taught at Baylor for more than 20 years and 68 percent have advanced degrees (including plenty of doctoral degrees). Teachers also serve as advisers, regularly interacting closely with students in all aspects of their school life. Others live on campus with their families, providing support and care for our boarding students.

Technology

Teachers use technology in a wide variety of ways to enhance their classes. In 1999, Baylor opened the $6.5 million Weeks Science and Technology Building, which houses 100 computers, 14 laboratories, three state-of-the art computer classrooms, and an interactive SMART Board. Word-processing, the Internet, and the B-Net (school network) are essential academic tools. Students and faculty have access to computer labs and classroom computers. Over 50 classrooms are equipped with projectors connected to computers, and SchoolPads and SMART boards are present in several of these classrooms.

Campus & Facilities

Baylor's expansive 670-acre campus blends the best of both natural and educational resources. Over the past 15 years, we have added a sports complex, new dining facilities, indoor and outdoor tennis facilities, a climbing wall, a fine arts complex, two dormitories, a completely renovated sixth grade building, a state-of-the art science and technology building, a wrestling complex, and the area's only indoor 50-meter pool.

Athletics

Baylor offers 17 sports and 81 teams in grades 6-12. Our teams have produced more than 70 state championships in the past 15 years, 110 in all. In 2005, Sports Illustrated magazine ranked Baylor as one of the top 25 athletic programs in the country and first in the state.

Arts

Baylor offers an extensive arts program with courses in visual arts, choral and instrumental music, dance, photography, and drama. Baylor students regularly receive honors at art, band, and voice competitions.

After School Activities

All Baylor students are required to participate in an afternoon activity when the academic day ends. In addition to athletic teams, we also offer a vast amount of activities that meet a variety of individual interests.

Summer Programs

Baylor offers academic and enrichment programs, as well as sports programs for boys and girls ages 5-15. In addition to this website, you can get more information by calling our Outreach and Auxiliary Office at 423-267-8506 (ext. 336), or by emailing here.

Tuition Assistance

Baylor offers a need-based financial assistance program designed to help enroll a talented, bright, socially, and economically diverse community of students who might not otherwise be able to attend the school. For information contact our Admission Office at 423-267-5902.

Admission

We believe that the more students give to their community, the more richly they will receive. Therefore, admission is largely based both on proven academic success, the potential contributions a student can bring to the community, and an enthusiasm for learning. For more information on how to apply, visit the admission section of this website, or contact our Admission Office at at 423-267-5902.
