What Students Say About Baylor

What was your favorite class this year?
AP Calculus BC was definitely my favorite class this year. Math has never been one of my strong subjects, but my teacher, Dr. Kennedy, was amazing. He taught the class in a way that made new material easy to understand and the atmosphere of the class was very relaxed and supportive.
What has been the most rewarding aspect of your Baylor experience so far?
Absolutely it’s been my involvement in Community Service, through which I have been able to befriend and tutor amazing children at local after-school centers, travel to North Carolina and learn from the wise homeless men and women of Ahope shelter, and most recently to travel to Jamaica and fall in love with the people there. I have tutored at Eastdale each day after school for three years, and now I don’t even consider going there a tutoring session for the children, it’s more like going to see my friends to help them with their work. These experiences have taught me more than I ever could have dreamt of learning, and I know that when I think back on my Baylor experience, my involvement in Community Service will be remembered as the best part.
What or who inspires you and why?
The children I met in Jamaica. Even though they have absolutely nothing in a material sense, they have more love and happiness than people who have every material thing imaginable. Knowing the joy and love of these children inspires me to live my life focusing on what is really important.
